Sahadevi is a sacred plant having spiritual and astrological importance in Indian traditions. According to Vastu Shastra, Sahadevi plant is said to attract divine positive energy and help to get rid of any evil power, thus purifying the mind, body and soul. A non-toxic cyanthillium cinereum plant that belongs to the Asteraceae family. It used to be called Vernonia cinerea, but apparently there was a taxonomic update, sometime prior to early 2014. Also known as little ironweed or purple fleabane in english which is a species of perennial plants in the sunflower family. It is called Sahdebi or Sahadevi in Hindi. Traditional Sanskrit names of Sahdevi are Uttamakanyapatra, Dandotpala, Kesarika, Devasaha, Mrugadani and Devarha. The species is native to tropical Africa and to tropical Asia and has become naturalized in Australia, Mesoamerica, tropical South America, the West Indies, and the US State of Florida. Planting Sahadevi in East corner or North corner of your house removes Vastu dosh & enhances the house with prosperity. Sahadevi is bitter in taste and dry in nature. It is easy to digest and has high potency. All the parts of this shrub can be used for medicinal purposes. Leaves, roots, seeds and stem are largely used for preparing medicines. It is a non-toxic plant and its leaves can be eaten raw like a vegetable.The major chemical constituents of this herb are lupeol acetate, beta-amyrin acetate. It also contains stigmasterol, alpha-spinasterol and sterols-beta-sitosterol.
